Kubuntu: Remote shutdown locks machine

Problem

After doing a sudo halt I'm unable to wake-on-lan my machine again. The machine appears to have been locked at the KDE exit screen.

Environment

  • Kubuntu-12.04

Workaround

Go to the machine physically. Hold down the power button to force a shutdown, and then press the power button to startup again.
